My name is Danna Paola Romero Martínez, I am 20 years old and I have practiced dance for 18 years.
My father was the first person in my family to teach me to appreciate this art. I remember that, when I was a child, he used to take me to witness the traditional dances during our town's festivals. I loved watching him dance with such passion and energy; I felt deeply proud to be his daughter.
He taught me that dance is not only an artistic expression, but also a way of expressing the culture and spirituality of our community.
After many years of watching my father take part in the dances, I made the decision to follow in his footsteps and learn to dance. Today I am a dancer, and it fills me with deep pride to be able to carry on this cherished tradition.
Beginning my journey in dance allowed me to strengthen my bond with my indigenous roots and with the rich cultural heritage of my country. It is an honor to be able to represent and share this part of my heritage with others.
Dance has also given me the opportunity to become part of a community of people who share my same values and interests. I feel part of something greater than myself, and in my fellow dancers I find constant support and inspiration.
This art holds a profound meaning in my life. Through dance, I have had the opportunity to discover new places and cultures. I have traveled to different states of Mexico to learn from other dancers and share my own tradition.
It fills me with pride to have been photographed while dancing, wearing my various traditional costumes. It is a memory I will treasure forever, and one that allows me to share my passion with others.
