The gallery welcomes Guadalajara artist Raquel Barrios to her first solo exhibition in San Miguel de Allende. Barrios mainly works using mixed media to create layered pieces with reclaimed fabrics, papers, oil sticks and acrylics. Through the use of assemblage and collage techniques, she intends to represent the construction of new scenarios, emphasizing the idea that it is okay to rebuild ourselves over and over again.

Michoacan is famous for its many small towns with big reputations for specialty artisan craftwork. Mata Ortiz is world famous for pottery while Santa Clara del Cobre is home to the finest coppersmiths in Mexico. Each small pueblo typically excels in one specific craft be it weaving, embroidery, silverware, saddlery or a plethora of the many generational folk crafts. But it is historic and picturesque Pátzcuaro where they all come to sell and compete for premios at the bi-annual Concurso Estatel de Artesanias. This exhibit offers a glimpse and a sampling of the rich traditions of Pátzcuaro and distant villages.
