I’m really looking forward to visiting San Miguel de Allende in August 2026 for a short lecture + book reading discussion of my book No Shame in a Scarlett Heart: from hunger to wholeness.
To make this event rich and personal, I’d love for you to spend some time with the book and choose one passage that most stayed with you. Write it on paper or screenshot it. Write a brief note (1–2 sentences) about what it brought up for you—you can Please have this ready by beginning of August.
Reading format (easy options):
Ebook is perfect (whatever device you have).https://www.amazon.com/.../ref=monarch_sidesheet_image
If you strongly prefer a print book and you probably already know how difficult it is to import to Mexico, I can arrange for a few copies to be brought in for those in the group(a volunteer members returning from the USA to San Miguel would be assigned). If this would help you, reply here with “print copy” and I’ll let you know what’s possible.
“No Shame in a Scarlett Heart: from hunger to wholeness is a memoir about hunger, shame, healing, and coming back to ourselves—especially in seasons of transition and building a new sense of home.
I myself now live in Mexico like many of you—so this is a conversation about identity, wholeness and transition.
Passage from the memoir,
"At first, I mourned the life I left behind in exchange for the life Mexico offered us. But as the miles passed beneath us, that sense of loss began to shift. Along with the suitcase of tangible items I had brought, I realized I also carried a lifetime of memories. Our past experiences stay with us always, forming a library of moments we draw on to keep us grounded and safe. A familiar scent, sight, or sound can remind us of comforting times or perhaps bring back feelings we’d rather forget.”
