San Miguel PEN presents... Hope Frye — Cruel and Unusual Punishment: How Hunting Immigrants Damages America, and How To Fight Back

We've all seen the news about ICE hunting down immigrants at home, at work, at church or school. What is it like to be an immigrant child or family detained by ICE? How did we get to this point? What can we do about it? Come hear distinguished immigration and human rights attorney Hope Frye and be inspired to hope and to act!

Hope Frye has worked on immigration and human rights law and policy and litigated cases under eight US presidents. She is co-founder and executive director of Project Lifeline, a nonprofit dedicated to helping immigrant children secure legal status. In 2019, she testified before Congress on children held in cages by CBP.

San Miguel PEN is a chapter of PEN International, the organization of writers that defends freedom of expression around the world. Our winter lecture series, San Miguel PEN Presents, raises funds for our ongoing work, including support for journalists under threat of death as well as local literacy projects.
