Caribbean Nights w/Duane Forrest - concert

Next Friday and Saturday, Toronto-based singer-songwriter, Duane Forrest lights up our stage with his heartfelt and haunting melodies. We recently interviewed Duane in preparation for his upcoming concerts at Shelter Theater:

Shelter: Welcome, Duane! Tell us a bit about yourself, please.

Duane: Well, I’m a singer-songwriter and multimedia artist from Toronto. My music is a fairly unique sound, blending reggae, bossa nova, and soul combined with some smooth vocals. I’ve toured in Canada, Europe, and Central America; I’ve also played in Japan, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.

Shelter: What sets your your music and writing style apart?

Duane: My music is often described as a mix of Nat King Cole, Bob Marley, and soul. I get inspired to write from traveling the world. I seem to pick up my influences this way, writing from these experiences.

Shelter: What inspires your music?

Duane: The songs draw on my experiences traveling the world, falling in love, and finding wonder in the joys and sorrows of a common human experience.
DJ Lamp at Radio Reverb raves, “Maravilloso! Good vibes. I love the way this music builds”.

Duane Forrest takes Shelter’s stage on January 17th and 18th with tickets available at Biblioteca gift shop and online.
