Please join us Thursday, November 13, from 4 to 6pm, at Café Rama for an inspirational evening of original poetry by Barbara Salazar, Gaia Schilke, and Carmen Rioja. All work will be read in both English and Spanish. The reading will be followed by a question and answer session focused on the process of translation. Natalie Taylor and Rosaleen Bertolino will co-host.

Barbara Salazar was born in Camagüey, Cuba, to a Mexican father and a Cuban mother. Raised in Puerto Rico, she is currently living in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Inspired by Mexico, and especially by San Miguel de Allende, she wrote her second book, Kaleidoscope: a blend of countries, dreams, enigmas, lies, and truths that surround her. She is currently in the process of translating her latest book into English.

Gaia Schilke, a visual artist and poet, has lived in San Miguel de Allende since 2016. A spoken-word poet during the 80s and 90s in NYC, Gaia’s poetry and illustrations have been published in numerous literary magazines and books internationally.
