Ballet Nepantla fuses ballet and folklorico, from Rio Grande to New York City. Their production Nacimiento is a Mexican holiday folkloric ballet about the birth of the Mexican people, merging Indigenous and Spanish roots and celebrating the unique Christmas traditions that emerged from this union, such as Las Posadas.
The performance explores the stories of La Malinche, Juan Diego, and the Virgen de Guadalupe—figures whose lives shaped the spiritual and cultural identities of the New World. The second act of Nacimiento captures the vibrant and joyful character of Mexican Christmas festivities in both Mexico and North America, through celebratory dances and nativity reenactments.
Ballet Nepantla bridges contemporary dance with Mexican folklore to explore new interpretive dimensions of cultural and historical “in-between-ness,” celebrating identity, tradition, and transformation through movement and music.

Ballet Nepantla fusiona ballet y folclor, desde Río Grande hasta Nueva York. Nacimiento es un ballet folclórico mexicano sobre el origen del pueblo mexicano, resultado de la unión entre raíces indígenas y españolas, y las tradiciones navideñas únicas de México, como Las Posadas, que surgieron de esa mezcla.
El espectáculo presenta las historias de La Malinche, Juan Diego y la Virgen de Guadalupe, así como de otros personajes históricos cuyas vidas son esenciales para las identidades del Nuevo Mundo. El segundo acto de Nacimiento refleja el carácter festivo de las celebraciones navideñas actuales en México y Norteamérica, con danzas y recreaciones del nacimiento.
Ballet Nepantla fusiona la danza contemporánea con el folclor mexicano para explorar nuevas formas interpretativas que profundizan en la “intermediedad” cultural e histórica, celebrando la identidad y la transformación a través del arte y el movimiento.
