CATS, GravityKids - theater

CATS, called a sparkling fusion of music, dance and verse, has broken records all over the world where tickets have sold for as much as $1,300 USD a piece. Now, thanks to Ceci Corona’s GravityKids, CATS will grace the stage of Teatro Angela Peralta December 8 and 9 at 6 p.m. for only $50 - $300 pesos. And, it will be free for a number of children who otherwise could not attend.

GravityKids, San Miguel’s aerial circus children, most recently bent themselves into pretzels and flew across the stage straight into our hearts in a production of Alice in Wonderland. You might remember their equally exciting production of The Nutcracker prior to that. “The kids enthusiastically learn coordination, strength, balance, discipline, flexibility, grace and self-confidence through our play together,” said Corona, who is the group’s founder, director, instructor choreographer, and designer of both sets and costumes.

Playing on aerial silks, hoops, straps, and trapezes, GravityKids dance, juggle, and fly through the air, emulating their adult counterparts of the GravityWorks performing company founded by Nisha Ferguson.

Corona has a long history of dance education in the classical, ballet, folk, and jazz traditions. She has performed at Bellas Artes and other places in Mexico, as well as with the American Festival of Ballet in the US.

Tickets are available at the Angela Peralta, Mesones at Hernandez Macias. They sold out for Alice in Wonderland, so get your tickets early.
