Austin School of Photography 6 week SMA Workshop

Thursdays 1-3pm, starting August 29th

Stephen Billick of the Austin School of Photography will be hosting his third annual San Miguel photography workshop beginning Thur. August 29th.

The course, based on ASOP's highly-lauded Photo 1 curriculum, is designed to create a fluency in the language manual photography in order to create sophisticated images written in light, space & time. Students who have taken this course as well as the
the very costly Santa Fe workshop have said that our approach was revelatory, effectively changing their entire relationship to the medium.

We will thoroughly explore exposure strategies, the ways in which you can manipulate layers of space with your lens, & how to deal with action & movement with your shutter. The course will also clarify all of the technical aspects of your equipment, as well as touching on theories of composition, elements of art history, & discussing personal style + intent. A second Photo 2 advanced course will follow in the fall for those interested. We are slowly building a community of graduates who are participating in meet-ups & group shoots.

Who should take this?
This class is designed for people with no previous knowledge of the medium, so beginners should feel entirely welcome. However, students with more advanced needs are also encouraged to take the course, as it will quickly expand to include truly advanced methods.

The course will meet each Thurs. for two hours beginning at 1:00pm. The cost of the 12 hour course is $395. Applicants are encouraged to read reviews of the Austin course via a Google search.
