Veteran San Miguel actress Phoebe Greyson who recently appeared in a Playreaders production of Taking Sides will star in a reading of the Christopher Durang's Obie award winning play Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You.

A hit and controversy after it's New York debut in 1979 the play is a critique of Authoritarianism. It considers some of the topics that have produced hot controversy in western society such as homosexuality and abortion.

While western society has improved its view on human rights in regards to gender, sexual orientation and women's choice in recent years, authority is an ever increasing burden on anyone who is governed.

The Catholic church is a paragon of authoritarianism which has lived out of step with many of its followers who walk in the desire for equality and freedom for all people. Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You is a potent satire on spiritual leaders who try to mold their followers into having the same narrow minded, bigoted ideologies they have.

Sister Mary is a sharp, funny critique on the relationship between equality and authority. It is a sardonic consideration against the authoritarian value system which has been tolerated in western society for two thousand years.

Performers will be in costume with scripts in hand.
