Jewish Writers Read Their Works

Jewish Writers in San Miguel Read from their Works At Annual Jewish Writer's Event

The public is invited to attend a literary reading of original writings. The event will be held on Sunday, March 24, from 3:00 – 4:30, at the Jewish Cultural and Community Center of SMA, (JC3), Calle de las Moras #45-47 (corner of Cinco de Mayo), in Col. Allende.

This event had been held for thirteen years under the direction of Sharon Leder now and has returned with Judith Jenya moderating. The seven readers present new works offering inspiration, a sense of historical roots, and stories of loss, humor, and tragedy.

Gabrielle Brie will read from her memoir set in the Deep South of the fifties; Fredric Dannen will read an original short story he has written specifically for this event; and Suzanna Goldman Dworsky will read an excerpt from an historical fiction work set in Odessa. Judith Jenya is reading a story based on her experiences during the 1990s Bosnian War; Alan Jordan will read from an original adaptation, tentatively titled Deconstructing O, scheduled to preview in July 2019. Lynda Schor plans to read a piece specifically chosen for the audience and Marcia Wolff will read from her novel in progress, titled "The Rarest of Gems," where Devora, is on an inner and outer heroines' journey in an imaginary tropical village in Mexico.

A reception will follow. Some of the authors' books will be available for purchase.

Admission is 50 pesos for members, 100 pesos for non-members. Tickets will be available at the door.
