Who Killed the Theater Director? - theater

There are few experiences more delightful in the theater than seeing superbly trained comedic actors thinking on their feet and improvising. The fun is enhanced when the audience gets to participate. This is the concept behind Steve Frost’s British Murder Mysteries, two plays being performed at the San Miguel Playhouse. The first play is entitled Who Killed the Theater Director?

Steve Frost wrote the plays and leads a talented cast. London’s Guardian newspaper calls Frost a “redoubtable conceptual comic improviser” and “hilarious.” He has acted alongside Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder and Mr. Bean, and is perhaps best known for his work on BBC Radio 4, including the hit improvisational show Who’s Line Is It Anyway? The cast also includes Janet Prince, most recently seen on British television with Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville. Pete Searles, who just completed four shows of his comic monologue Hey Gringo! Bolivia and Beyond to packed houses at the Playhouse, is another cast member. Rounding out the cast are Henrietta Weekes, Phoebe Greyson, Sebastian Vallin, and Enrique Argumedo.

Frost provides this description for his British Murder Mysteries: “Imagine watching Murder, She Wrote performed by the Marx Brothers, and then you get to tell Angela Lansbury “whodunit” – and if you’re right, you get a prize. So come on down, bring your magnifying glass, your deer stalker, a sharp pencil, and definitely a sharp mind. The game is afoot!”
