Webinar: Impact of Climate Change in San Miguel de Allende

This will be a virtual presentation at which you
will be able to participate in a Q&A after the talk.

Last month, many of you attended our first of a series of four webinars, with Pastor Ignacio Ramírez giving a report on how the shelter is accommodating the migrants and asylum seekers during this time of the pandemic. We received many notes of praise for the work being done at ABBA House.

We are excited to be offering our next webinar on a completely different topic related to the environment in the region of Mexico where ABBA is, the state of Guanajuato, and specifically, the city of San Miguel de Allende. We could not have a more appropriate special guest, César Arias de la Canal, founder and current President of the Board of Directors of the Charco de Ingenio Botanical Garden, one of the most beautiful natural environments to visit in San Miguel.

An attorney and human rights activist from an old and prominent San Miguel family, César is also a founding member of Amnesty International’s Mexican Section. He has been a professor at the Universidad Metropolitana in Mexico City and the University of Veracruz, where he also worked as a journalist. The author of several books and publications on social and environmental issues, he currently serves as President of the Botanical Garden El Charco del Ingenio, where he has worked since its inception in 1990. He has participated in many community projects, such as El Sindicato cultural center, and NGOs, including Va por San Miguel de Allende, with a focus in the defense of the cultural and natural heritage of the city.

Some of you may remember meeting César last fall when he kindly hosted our special guest, author, Luis Urrea at his and his wife’s lovely San Miguel home for a reception following Luis’ presentation.

We hope you will join us for his wonderful and informative talk. Please mark your calendars and register by clicking on the link below.
