Amistad Canada 10th Anniversary Celebration

Amistad Canada Celebrates 10 Years of Partnership between Canadians and
Mexicans working together to change lives.

Amistad Canada celebrates its 10th anniversary with a big fiesta with food, drink and live entertainment at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel on March 12.

Stage entertainment will star Chilean tango singer Katy Campos and the participation of two San Miguel choirs - the Biblioteca Publica de San Miguel’s children’s choir and the choir of the Escuela de Educación Especial de San Miguel whose Deaf students will use sign language to accompany the singers.

The event will be both a celebration and a showcase for the NGO Partners of Amistad Canada - La Biblioteca Pública de San Miguel, CASA Midwifery and Libraries, the Children’s Art Foundation, the Escuela de Educación Especial de San Miguel, Feed the Hungry, Jóvenes Adelande, Mujeres en Cambio, Patronato Pro Niños, and So Others May Eat in San Miguel - who will each have an interactive space around the patio of Instituto Allende where guests will learn about their current projects, achievements and future plans.

Amistad Canada was established in San Miguel de Allende back in the 1980s to respond to the need of the local population for more social support. Amistad Canada helps Canadians participate more effectively in assisting social agencies that provided services to people in need.

In the past 10 years, Amistad has supported up to 15 registered Mexican not-for-profit organizations devoted to improving health, education and social justice in San Miguel and in four other communities in the states of Jalisco, Oaxaca and Guerrero.
